Steph and Mark’s Woodland Wedding

Woodland themed wedding Leicestershire

Steph and Mark were a very warm and welcoming couple, the wedding was set in the Leicestershire countryside and was made even more special as Steph’s dad, the vicar of the local church, performed their wedding. It was a very emotional and special ceremony, they had a band from London to play the hymns which worked beautifully and was a lovely modern take on the traditional hymns in the service.

Both Steph and Mark decided to have a wedding photographer with them whilst they were getting ready, this is one of my favourite parts of the wedding day, there is so much excitement and anticipation in the air, so I was with the bride and Caitlin was with the groom and his groomsmen. It gives us a great opportunity to get to know the couple a little more, which, subsequently, makes them more relaxed about the camera during the rest of the day.

Steph and Mark put a lot of work in themselves and Steph’s mum even made the wedding cake, a truly beautiful DIY wedding. The wedding took on a woodland theme as the couple wanted it to be a homage to a magical trip to Canada where mark proposed, so there was lovely details throughout the day, such as pine cones on the place settings at the wedding breakfast and a ‘fingerprint’ tree for the guests to make their mark and write a lovely message. It was a lovely touch.
My favourite moment had to be when all of their guests were enjoying a cup of tea and a cupcake in the church hall, before we all headed over to the reception venue, Steph and Mark jumped into my car, and we sneaked off for a shoot at a nearby castle, the castle was beautiful and it was a great decision to head there for a few sneaky shots. They hadn’t organised a lift or a car to the reception, it was so nice that they decided to come with me, it was great.

The evening kicked off with Ceilidh dancing, which I was fortunate enough to capture. Such a great way to begin the evening. A really lovely wedding.
